You have to remember that physiologically we only experience an emotion for 7 seconds. The remainder is moved along and resurfaced because of our thought patterns. Sometimes when people think in circles (the same idea over and over) they don't realize that by recycling this thought they are actually causing physical reactions inside their bodies; anger reaction being a major concern. You have to interupt your thinking patterns and begin a new one. It is very difficult and requires a level of consciousness that not everyone is willing to step up to. First you have to identify your particular pattern since everyone is different. Then you have to remain conscious of that pattern and when you are likely to start thinking that way. Once you have that down you must really put your nose to the grindstone and forcefully change how you are thinking and begin a new pattern. Stop, think - don't react. As humans we were given the power to govern ourselves and are most noble when we do. Everything we do is a choice - what's yours?

Ending up with six assault charges in 2001 I figured I had a problem with my temper. I attended anger management classes (Three sessions) and took a little home from each one. The hardest for me to learn was to walk away. Having breakfast once and late evening snacks of pepper spay helped me learn this much faster. The worst was when I was "tazed" in front of my children and grandchildren. I had never been nor will I ever be that ashamed again. Take some anger management classes before you end up making an a$$hole in front of your family like I did.

My husband bought a standing punching bag for us to take our aggressions out on. I my self either get involved in my house work or a project that I want to do. Or I put on some sort of rage music like Prodigy's SMACK MY ***** UP and FIRESTARTER. Then I scream and just let it all out. Some times I take a drive and scream in my car. And then some times I just go for a walk. Hope these suggestions could help.

Relating to a question I just asked. I would say have a temper book, write it down, write it all out as much as you like, writting is just thoughts and thoughts aren't dangerous, wrong or bad their just thoughts and your entitled to them , write them out and you will find it like getting it out of your system and maybe seeing the situation in perspective, or not. It works for me quite a lot, espiscally when i'm angry.

I would suggest pounding on a pillow, writing a letter about everything you are mad about then ripping it up and throwing it away, also exercise is an excellent reliever of anger.

Write it down, or tell someone how annoyed you are. Breathe deeply and keep reminding yourself not to get wound up, don't get carried away and remember you are probably going to get over it. x

Oh, do you mean how do you blow off steam? For me running works. I'm so tired after a "mad run" being angry requires more energy than I have left. You could try a punching bag at your local gym too.
