Laughing out loud

Lol means "Laugh Out Loud", suggesting that whatever has been typed was funny enough to warrant an actual chortle or laugh.

Lol comes in many forms, such as Rofl (Rolls on Floor Laughing), Roflmao (Rolls on Floor Laughing My A** Off), and Roflecopter, which is generally used as a cutesy term of spinning around and laughing.

Laugh out Loud. When I first became "fond" of the computer, many years ago, I thought it was Lots of Love.

"Laughing out loud" is the definition, but before the age of personal computers the abbreviation meant "Little Old Ladies."
