Is it because of Y2K and people giving more money to companies that was needed? Is that why nobody trusts a company that asks for money anymore?

al gore is making a huge deal of global warming, when really, no one cares that much, and, eventually the whole world will be ruined anyway, no matter if we pollute it or anything or not. in 'an unconveniant truth' [boringest movie EVER] he says all the things we do that cause global warming. okayy, so what are we supposed to do? stop driving cars and doing all the other things that help us in our everyday lives? ummm, no. anyway, al gore [besides being really annoying], is an idiot.
get over the whole global warming thing. its a scam

It is called "Critical Thinking"

Al Gore is to be commended on his presentation in “An Inconvenient Truth”.
The success of his presentation is based on a very simple and well-understood phenomenon.
PEOPLE will continue to DOUBT a concept that is presented in a logical manner with a plethora of scientific evidence from reproducible trials.
PEOPLE will BELIEVE something that they have been allowed to assume is true regardless of the facts.
The illusionist simply allows you to assume that the rabbit materialises in the hat. If you assume that the spoon is bent purely by psychic force then you will continue to believe that.
If you don’t examine the trick hoop then you will always believe that the lady was levitated over the table.
The magician simply does the trick without comment, he allows you to assume.
Illusionists and magicians are trained to “allow” the mark to assume that things are true by avoiding the issue of telling them that it is true or false.
Various “presenters” are trained to do the same thing. Another beauty is to talk about something as if it has already happened or is already accepted as true.

Gore asks the marks to IMAGINE what the effects of this or that must be, always compared with something quite unrelated.
Remember that imagination is the logic of the subconscious.
Once you have imagined that these effects are real then the rest follows easily.
Is it the truth?
Do you think that the truth needs to be presented in this way?
Perhaps it is time it was.

This link shows some of the devices used in Gores presentation.

This next link is a fairly technical analysis of the latest information.
In fairness the authors do something similar.
http://www.just-boilers.com/ungraph.jpg....
The analysis clearly shows that natural temperature variations have gradually warmed the Earth for over 200 years before CO2 became an issue.
Their data would support an argument that the Greenhouse effect is not responsible for the ongoing warming. But they stop short of saying that.
Now this could be Scientific conservatism. I see it as a deliberate ploy to have the readers make the assumption on their own accord. Much more effective.

You may ask; how do I protect myself from this type of spiel?
The answer is easy to give, harder to follow.
If you are looking at a car ignore the “what would I need to offer to have you sign now” bit and go home to think about what you really want.
If the seminar is selling condos or asking you to invest your life’s savings accept the free gifts and run like hell.
If it is a movie become involved and enjoy the fantasy but remember that you cannot fly once you leave the theatre.
In short reset your critical thinking in the clear light of day in the sure knowledge that we can all be fooled.
As Honest Abe said: “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time – but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”

A far BETTER question would have been, "Isn't it interesting that Al Gore is running a strong 3rd place in a field of around 10 Democratic contenders, and he hasn't even entered the race yet?"

A whole LOT of Americans LIKE Al Gore. A highly intelligent and sensible man. (Remember the way he made mincemeat of Ross Perot in that debate on national TV over NAFTA?) (And we also are still incensed that our current Warmonger-in-THIEF stole the 2000 election away from him, and from the majority of the voters. Such nice justice it would be if he comes into the White House as Bush goes out the door!)

Al Gore is an example of how a guy can project a completely
different persona..through the graces of the media machine.

I don't think he's an idiot..after all I hope Will Farrell isn't the boob he tries to project himself as being..but come on Gore was a photo-journalist..not a eco-scientist rivaling Steven Hawking

Al Gore is nary the intellect..any more than George Bush the fool.

Al Gore has now become the world's foremost expert om global warming and climatology. He calls on us to sell our cars, especially SUVs while he flies around in his private jet, causing enough pollution as several hundred SUVs making the same trip. He buys carbon credits to offset his "footprint". With his "super-sized mansion" he consumes as much energy and resources as 50 average families, yet he claims that he's the exception. We should cut back but he shouldn't. And where are those hurricanes?

How can Al Gore be an idiot? He invented the internet didn't he? He probably also invented gopher, Unix, telnet, networked messaging, web based browsing, the concept of TCP/IP and Ethernet packets, and of course web-based HTML browsing.

I wonder if Al Gore took high school chemistry?

No. He's not an idiot....he's a huckster! Big Red nailed it when he simply said Gore is a politician. That explains it all.

It's because he doesn't use the brains he obviously has. Anybody who doesn't use the brains God gave them is an idiot.
