The little girl Maddy who has gone missing recently may have caused a big stir in the news. The other night I noticed several celebrities wearing these yellow ribbons as an expression of supporting Maddy & her family. I was angry, firstly because children go missing all the time & they never get any support from the public through special ribbon bearing by celebrities etc. so why should this one incident be so special? it happens all the time, more should be done to support the other families- just because they don't go ostentatiously public about their bereavement doesn't mean they shouldn't have the same support as Maddy's family- these ribbons don't seem to help much in the way of charity anyway, which brings me to my second point-
the rubber wrist bands "make poverty history" etc.
as soon as the shops had realised there was a new bandwagon to be made on the back of our "I'm so caring!" (*said in a sarcastic manner*) society, they started shipping out crap at the expense of charity.
