I am a Christian and you can't "snap him out of it". It's a personal choice to follow God and personally I don't think most Catholics will make it to heaven. Their views on God and everything else in their religion is twisted. No offense. Let your buddy live his life the right way and perhaps take after his example.

I totally agree with you. At one point, many years ago, everyone in my entire family went born again. My mother actually believed that if a certain guitar chord was played repeatedly that you would lose control of your bowels!! They are crazy and not open to other ways of thinking.
There may not be much you can do except stay in his life to offer a different opinion when you can. Good luck!

Push him too hard and he may become rebellious and shut you out of his life. Sorry to say but he's going to have to decide what he wants from his life himself. The best you can do is support him in everything he does, let him know your thoughts on the matter and then hope that he snaps out himself.

The same thing happened to me. My oldest and dearest friend Ruth became a practicing Catholic (suddenly a devout, Bible-carrying Christian), and she is Jewish. Talk about a surprise...
But she and I had to come to a mutual understanding that we are not "on the same page" when it comes to religious beliefs. I am accepting of her new beliefs and she, reluctantly and with opposition, has become accepting of mine...or lack of.

Christianity is not a cult.
You should know better since you are Catholic. He may have found meaning and happiness in his life.
I understand your concern, since some of the more fervent Christians, like the Pentacostals, can seem like a cult.

If you a worried about his group that he joined, scoop them out, then by your knowledge of God's word, act accordingly. Walk the walk and talk the talk. Don't be afraid to share with him your concerns. But if the Christan group is not cult related, it is his decision. Don't stop being friends, just try to relate as to what he is searching for.

I'm catholic too, but the best advice is runnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. He will never shut up about anything else. There is nothing as bad as a preacher for a friend. Tell him you are dead.

It's not for us to judge other people's choice of religion. Catholics (I am one) have been persecuted throughout the ages and I would be offended if someone tried to get me to "snap out of it."

Be happy for him. Christians aren't crazy cult members. (real Christians aren't at least). If he makes you uncomfortable when talking about God, tell him about it, I'm sure he will respect you enough to not constantly bother you with it, but you have to understand that is a part of his life now.
