I bought a monthly ticked for the West Coast of USA about six years ago. Took me all the way from Houston Texas to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Vancouver Canada, with stops in between, then back again.
Only cost £278, Its likely at least twice as much now but it was cheap considering the cost of train travel over there. And I had a great time, sleep on the train, eat in the dining car. Better than Europe for a change.
