i'm guessing you're British, like me? I merely realised a pair of years interior the previous that persons frequently pronounce the "-ia" sound in names as "-ya". So, Amelia will grow to be "ah-MEEL-ya", and Ophelia will grow to be "oh-journey-ya", etc. additionally, the yankee accessory would not sort vowel sounds as plenty by actuality the English accessory, it is why they're able to take a popularity like Brandon and spell it Branden or Brandin or Brandyn without even changing the pronunciation, which would be impossible to do in England. This explains why the "oh" sound in Ophelia can sound like an "I" sound if spoken rapidly. it somewhat is barely their accessory. in case you reside in uk, I particularly would not concern approximately it. EDIT: Yep, we pronounce it "ah-MEE-lee-uh" in uk. 4 syllables, not 3. comparable with Alicia - i could pronounce it "ah-LISS-ee-uh". i do in assessment to a pair distinctive pronunciations.
