Not much goes on outside of the hotels in the area you are visiting....due to this fact the hotels have a captive audience & can charge what they like for food, drink etc.Coach journey to the pyramids wil take 8-10 hours though you will probably be told about 5. My advise is to tavel by plane which will probably cost around 1500le with your tour rep, this normally includes the pyramids(so serile)Egyptian museum, the markets, perfumeries & papyrus factories. My advice is to bring your alcohol with you, this will be much cheape though there are off licences in cairo where you can purchase a bottle of beer for as littlle as 5.50le. Wine is not so good & not much cheaper than europe. You only have two days after arrival to visit a duty free shop...there is one close to the taba hilton, you will need to show your passport & there is a limit of three bottles(litres)per person. As for restaurants you will find a huge variety in Cairo all at reasonable prices!! As someone else mentioned snorkelling is free just remember to bring your flippers&snorkel though you will be able to purchase these items on arrival. I hope you find this info helpful? I wish you a safe journey & a wonderful holiday!!!

Taba heights is s long way from the pyramids, taba is on the eastern peninsula near Israel while Cairo and Luxor are on the west of the red sea and further south. Flying would be the best bet and probably wouldn't cost much. Driving would probably be around 8 - 10 hours - the road system is fairly poor. Egypt is a poor country dependent of toursim, food and drink is very cheap. Snorkelling would be free from the beach (and you could see a wide variety of sea life from the beach) boat trips would cost maybe $15 - 20

You need to spend 1 night in Cairo to visit the Pyramids from Taba. Snorkeling may cost nothing, but it depends where. Be careful in Taba don't just go and dive alone. Near the border is not allowed. It's also not allowed to harm the environment or the coral reef or take any piece of it. You can make dessert safari and diving safari in the area. You can book for it even before you arrive.

Food and beverage costs in Egypt are usually very inexpensive. Of course that means staying out of the 5 star hotels. The pyramids are in a huge open space and can really be a drag just because of the number of tourists and the endless hassles by the locals trying to sell you everything you can ever thing of. It is really worth it though. You can't believe how huge they are. Also the Museum in Cairo was a highlight of my around the world trip. I could have spent days in there and the King Tut stuff brings out the pirate in me. I wanted to take it all home!! A Nile trip to Luxor is fun and the boats are really plush. Not to expensive either with swimming pools and great food. Travel by train is fun too so keep it in mind. not to expensive there either. All in all I think that you will have a very good time. I would love to go back

I disagree with the statement above me..stay away from muslim people LOL they drink more than Christians over here. Anyways about the alcohol I advice you NOT to buy alcohol from a bar or pub because it's really expensive. They have alcohol shops here, the most well known is Drinkies. Average price of a beer is 8LE and you can always go to the many Duty Free shops and buy liquor from there.
As for food..really depends on what you want..you can always go to Applebees or Chilis and the prices are around 100LE for 3 courses give or take 20LE. Just remember if you eat dinner in a restaurant it will be double or triple the price of a restaurant outside.
