Mother is in mid-forties, daughter is in mid-twenties. Not looking to spend a ridiculous amount of money...but something nice and meaningful. Ideas?

Depends on where you are from East Coast, go visit NYC for a day, take in a show on broadway, and the typical New York City Sights. Mid-west go to Chicago, and go shopping visit an art museum, West Coast, visit the beach, and beach hop up or down the coast. If you live close to Colorado, visit Colorado Springs about an hour south of Denver. It's got this park called the Garden of Gods that you can hike around in for hours, and the scenery is beautiful. You can see for miles. Pikes peak is part of the mountain chain that makes the Garden of the Gods park. Or you could take a tram up to the top. About a half an hour away is this other park called the Seven Falls, consists of Seven water falls that you can walk through, very cool. Have fun!

Louisiana is a beautiful destination. You could stay in New Orleans in the Quarter, or do a bed and breakfast tour of the plantation homes along the Mississippi River.

Why not go with your Mom on a nice cruise. You can go to either the Eastern or Western Caribbean for a week for like 6 or 700 each.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.. its a great place for families.. its cheap, the people are so nice & the food is great!
