I never thought she was that 'high' to begin with, she's not any lower now than when I first heard her pop songs. She certainly never played punk, but lightweight pop-rock instead. The song 'Girlfriend' surely appeals most strongly to the 12 year-old girls who need a female role model "with attitude."
The song 'Girlfriend' is either tongue-in-cheek paody done poorly, or it is voice of the ego of someone who thinks they have "reached the top."

I completely agree with you. Earlier she did have a couple of great Punk/ Alternative tracks..but her new album 'The Best Damn Thing' sucks royally! From the lyrics to her appearance - every thing's just too pathetic and undoubtedly Girlfriend is the 'WORST' track in the album..

She became so pathetic, when she first came out I loved her because she was different from all the pop-slutty teen singers, but now she turned in a poser and she's not so different any longer from who she said she didnt like ( Christina,Britney)
I dont like her any longer, what a pity,she really has talent.

i never really liked her but what happened to miss hard core rocker.....what the heck is that stupid girlfriend song even about??? she gets married and just turns into some pop princess........yuck!

nope im with u man.i admit i used t like her but tt was during her first album den i was ok wif her second but dis new one,its rubbish as compared t her past (n better) stuff.she's sth like a hypocrite i feel.

well avril was HUGE when she cme out wid her debut album......n i relly likd her...she was a role model n all
but l8ly shes gotten gwen-stefani-ish nwid her new gf song....welll hope she keeps up her punk rock image inthe future..or else its downhill-avril!!!
