This is a significant story.

Easing passport rules put in place "for reasons of security" have affected both consumers vacations and the travel industry because of the backlog of applications for passports of 3 months.

The fact that the new rules requiring passports is being eased temporarily for economic reasons show that the rule is not essential for security reasons.

The White House does not consider a real threat to be addressed by requiring passports for destinations that did not require them before the new limitations of US citizens.

The removal temporarily of this limitation shows the White House is using fear and "terrorism" to remove previous rights of travel through the new passport requirements. If it were a real deterrent to terrorism it would not be changed temporarily for economic reasons.

Wisdom would question every use of fear mongering, the numerous "plots" being presented as examples of terrorism today and their use to justify limitations of rights, freedoms, and the Constitution of the United States of America.

This is not sending terrorist an open invitation because the new passport rules do not deter real terrorist at all.

"The only thing to fear is fear itself"

No. In the recent past, US citizens did not need passports to travel to and from Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, and other Caribbean islands. Prior to 9/11 I visited both Canada and Mexico. I was never even asked for identification. The customs officials from all three countries asked "anything to declare?"

Americans now have to show proof that they applied for passports and have to have photo IDs with them. The borders are still open, so illegals don't have to go through customs. Foreigners still have to have passports.

The really big thing about easing these passport rules is the reason behind it!

The Passport Folks are way behind in issuing over a half a million Passports at this time - which forced him to resort to this!

Typical of how Bush and his cronies do business!

Well you have nothing to worry about. Bush knows when terrorist strikes will happen because he has programmed them himself. So I mean they only really needed 9/11 to get everyone scared. Notice how now everyone including you is afraid because of 9/11. See that is Bush's and the governments mission accomplished. Look how many laws were made because of "terrorists". Look how much the govt. got done. Yeah umm the real terrorits are the U.S. Goverment if you ask me.
