First thing to do is check the condense... the place underneath where the warm air comes out. remove the kickplate, and look at it. Was it covered? If so, take the vaccuum with the hose attachment and suck ALL the dust and animal hair out of there!!! If not, look at the back panel of the freezer... Is it heavily frosted? If so, the defrost system is out... There are only three parts to a defrost system, the timer, the element, and a thermostat that keeps the unit from overheating in defrost... On of those is out if there was frost. First thing to do in that case is empty the freezer, and with a hair dryer melt ALL the ice in the back( remember, most of the ice you cannot see with the back on). If you want to check it yourself, let me know and I'll give more instructions.....

If neither of these problems, it could be the compressor... but before calling a repairman, unplug it and let it rest for about 8 hours... as a compressor can, under certain conditions overheat and letting it cool down can take care of the problem....

A daft sounding answer but it can work. Empty the fridge and switch off, turn it upside down for an hour or two, turn it back the right way up and try it. If still not working get in touch with your local council who will dispose of the duff fridge so you can buy a new one.

Fridge Freezers are made to be used in the house sometimes people put them in the garage and because of the lower temperature they dont work properly

How old is it? Is it still under warranty? If so, contact the supplier.
There are many different reasons for the fault. It could be the compressor, a coolant leak that could be fixed by re-charging, faulty thermostat, or faulty control system if 'computerised'.
It's probably beyond a lay-person's ability, unless you are a very good problem-solver. First you need to make the correct diagnosis, then you must be able to get the part(s), and then you need must be able to replace it.

I have the same problem with my freezer. I think the thermostat is at fault. Either give it a clip if you can find it, or replace it yourself or at a repair shop. don't be bluffed into buying a new fridge too easily. good luck. now maybe I should follow my own advice.

Put your food in a coooler and let the fridge and freezer thaw out for a day and see what happens. Ice builds up and keeps it frome cooling. (I know it doesn't make sense, but it's true)

Well that was a fine answer that you where given and given them all thumbs up. However do the following. check to see if you have food that is covering the vents in the back of the freezer. That is what keeps things cold. Try that.

This might seem simple, but did the temperature control knob get readjusted somehow? Check and make sure it isn't turned way down.

Otherwise, I think you might just have a worn-out fridge.

It could be a cooling compresssor problem.

It could be a clogged vent problem.

It could be a setting problem. (Did you move the colling setting button?)

Its hard to diagnose over a Yahoo question.

You really need someone who knows about fridges to look at it.
