Always know where your handbag and/or mobile are.
Never sign anything without reading it first, especially if there's money involved.
ASK. If you don't understand something, which is worse, to be embarassed for a moment, or to do something stupid because you were afraid to get the information you needed?
Never marry a person who is rude to the waiting staff in a restaurant or the concierge in a hotel. If they're rude to people who are paid to serve them, imagine how they'll treat you when it's free at home!
Never marry a person you met in a bar or disco.
If your spouse/partner ever hits you in anger, even once, leave. For good. It's only the beginning. Next thing you know you'll be living in hell.
Basic survival home tool kit: 3 in 1 spray, duct tape, a set of different-sized screwdrivers and a pair of tweezers. A sharp pocket knife is also helpful.

I guess I could go on for a while. Even if you don't take this answer as best, thank you for allowing me to share this with somebody.

Sooo many mistakes, it would take a book to cover them all! Now there's an idea! My tip to avoid them is 'if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is'! and 'There's no such thing as a free lunch'
Good luck

Try and experience everything you can. Whether its bad or good. We learn from the mistakes.
I'm at that stage in my life where I want to experience everything I possibly can.
