Take me a few weeks to add /everything/ but I'm working on a new site just to answer all the virus / trojan questions posted here. It also looks at the reasons people get infected - like accepting attachments from strangers. In includes reviews of and links to the various antispyware packages - like Ad-Aware and step by step guides to deal with the problem. Only started it this month and an adding to it daily as I answer the many Trojan related help questions here.

Once you are sorted I'd recommend you invest in a copy of Norton 360 - It's list of features include protection from IM launched threated.
Despite the cost £60 or $60 in the States (*mutters about rip-off prices in the UK*) and despite valid claims it is slow - when running a full scan - Symantec 360 really is worth the money. For the price you get a 3 user license. At just £20 / $20 a year, it's unbeatable value.
If you aren't sorted within an hour or too holler and I'll look into your problem in details.

There is not a best way to remove a trojan as they are all unique and therefore require different techniques. Basically you download something like a free screensaver but were tricked into downloading the trojan at the same time.
What you need to do is identify the trojan and then do a Google search to find out how to remove it. If you are being directed to a spurious website where you are being advised to buy a software program, then the name of the product will provide a clue as to the trojan you have.
It may take several programs to get rid of it from your system, so be prepared for some hard work and a lot of downloading.

4. Search Temprory Internet Files & delete it's content.
5. Run updated Antivirus & Anti spyware.

I had one this morning.Got several warnings . Ran Norton to put it in Quarantine. Securtity report says all clear now.Probably picked it up yesterday. There were a lot of funny MSN mesages coming in. I opened one thinking it was from my grand daaughter as it had a version of her name on it .But it wasn't from her. I deleted it but by then the virus was already on board

For your PC to be OK, you have to protect it from viruses and hackers!
The virus is a small program that attach itself to other files from your computer and can harm your computer, by restarting it, freezing it or even by deleting your files or stealing your personal information.
To keep your computer safe from viruses you have to use an anti-virus program, like Norton, AVG, Kaspersky, Avast, Antivir, McAfee, Bit Defender. Some are free and others have trial versions.
Here you have some links to download the free versions of some of the best anti-virus programs, as well as other security tools:
