I think you have answered your own question. This depends upon the company and the position the person is seeking. Getting one degree works fine for some kinds of positions (sales, for example), but if you want to be corporate counsel, you need to get a law degree in addition to a bachelor's degree. For some positions (and some companies and/or industries), an MBA is essential to move beyond a certain level.
