Sounds like you are looking for a leopard gecko. As reptiles go they are easy to care for. They will need a heat source which can be easily provided by a reptile heat pad, no additional lighting is needed. They are captive bred in huge numbers so are widely available, acclimated to captivity and relatively inexpensive. They get about 6 inches long and tolerate handling fairly well. You will need at least a 10 gal. tank. They cannot climb walls and glass like most geckos.

They are right. You need a nice size tank to put the lizard in. Also, you need a heat lamp because they are cold-blooded animals and only get warm under that light. Good clean water and food. Keep it out of drafts. My son had a lizard for 10 years. It got about 3 feet long.

a green gonole could be a effective reptile for that length tank. they're in basic terms 7 greenbacks at petco or somewere. they consume meal worms and crickets somtimes they're coll to observe and that they turn from brown to green returned and forth. all you want is a decrease than tank heater witch is approximately 20 money and a pretend plant for it to climp on and you will have a pair for that length of a tank and there incredibly low maintance.

Where are you. Blue tongue lizards are very easy and cheap in australia, but you do need a license to keep them!

make sure you can afford a big tank, also it may need special heating. make sure that its food is affordable and in good supply. Remember you may need a vet and someone to care for it when you go away.
