Hi,

My laptop does not recognize any wireless networks in the area ? I had configured my router and it was all working fine but one fine day my laptop stopped recognizing any wireless network. I have a Netgear 108 Mbps Router. I tried going to the site 192.168.0.1 and switching my Router on and off but that did not work. I tried rebooting the router but that also did not work ? Can someone please suggest what could be wrong and how I can resolve this ?

Your the forth person i know of that has lost some or all of their network using a netgear router.

Does your desktop i.e. hardwired PC work via the router?
Try hooking up your laptop via ethernet cable to see if it will work through the router.

Go to 192.168.0.1 and verify that the "wireless function is turned on" the router can be used with the wireless function tuned off.

Try bringing in another laptop to check for wireless networks.
If that fails i would recommend a new router like Linksys / D-Link.

Good luck

You may contact Netgear web site and see if they have an updated firmware. If so update the firmware on the unit. Oftentimes there is a bug in the firmware that a subsequent revision fixes. Netgear is famous for that type of problem.

Make sure your notebook has its wireless turned on; it may be off.

Connect via wired port from notebook to router and see if things work. If they do, then you have isolated it to the wireless side; if things don't work the entire router may be at fault; reconfigure and see if that fixes things.
