This country is a secular nation founded on the inaliable right to happiness right? freedom of religion *or from religion*
Any religious arguments are mute on the civil & legal question of gay marriage... since we dont live in Iran and have our laws dictated by the religious zealots & fundamentalists who believe their view of reality is superior to all other individual's experiences & perception.
I see no reason why tax paying citizens should be denied the legal right of shared taxes, hospital visiting rights... etc just because their partner is the same sex.
If a church doesn't want to perform gay marriages, that's cool... but on a civil & legal level, denying gay marriage is completely descriminatory.
Marriage has always had a maliable definition.
Business arrangement or political move... dominion of a man over his property/wife... etc. Only in the past few hundred years in western society have love marriages gained acceptance & popularity, rather than just being the exception to the rule.
Marriage is a legal term, and civil rights are granted & denied based on the status of one's marriage or lack there of.
Denying gay couples marriage also does great psychological & social harms to their children if they happen to have any.
*******
Another Problem: you are wrong. If you define wrong as doing harm to another human being. By insisting that "god made adam & eve, not adam & steve" you're using a juvenile rhyme a 3 yr old could have concocted to explain away a reason in order to oppress your friends civil liberties.
If you don't think that's wrong... it's your reality & who am I to judge your perception... but your perception of the situation is eerily reminiscent of how many many people used to feel about interracial marraige.
"I like black people just fine, hell I have a few that work in my kitchen... but if my daughter went out with a black man, I'd kill them both" kind of mentality.

Is Rico's fear that everyone in the world may turn gay a cry for help about his own confused sexuality?

I am strongly for gay marriage. To those of you against it, how would you feel if you and your lover were not allowed to marry? A marriage is between two people who love eachother and that's all that matters

I'm for it. Marriage is not for the purpose of reproduction. It is for two people to make a formal and binding commitment to each other, before their family and friends so that these people will respect the union of their loved ones. I think people should be allowed to love whomever they choose, and have the same rights as each other to have that union legally recognized.

i'm a lesbian lady who's firmly unfavorable to same-intercourse marriage. same-intercourse marriage isn't a 'marriage' in any respect. Marriage is a God-given present it incredibly is meant to link the two sexes, guy and lady, parents. I do think of that exact same-intercourse couples, (I.E me and my substantial different) ought to settle for finished criminal rights and advantages. I do think of it incredibly is arbitrary that interior the state I stay in (Florida) technically conversing, my substantial different Christine is a stranger to me. yet we would desire to continually no longer be married. i'm involved by civil unions for same-intercourse companions, nevertheless.

none of my business who does what with whom. if you do it in public, when i'm working, i'll stop you. if i don't see you (and i don't look into people's windows) then i couldn't care less. love is love, regardless. 50% of all marriages end in divorce, people use the kids as game pieces in custody battles, and just because it was a marriage of a male and a female that makes it alright? don't think so.

Tough one..
I do not believe that it should be viewed as equal to marriage as it has always been defined, which is between a man and a woman.
However if gays wish to have commitment ceremonies etc,I see no problem with that...

honestly, i don't really care. it doesn't pertain to me or anyone i personally know or love so it's immaterial to me. nothing personal at all, but if i had to choose, i would allow it. anyone a person loves and is with long term deserves their name and valuables at the time of death or to make important medical decisions. basically, i will cross that bridge when i get to it.
