When my ex wife was pregnant she fainted (more like a coma really) and she was unconscious for about 4 or 5 hours. The doctor told me that pregnant womens veins become larger so that if they stand too long the blood gets pulled downwards away from the brain and can cause such fainting. I guess this fluids effect is what is causing the swelling. Have you tried lying down horizontally or in a recliner when the swelling starts?

i am 36 weeks and VERY swollen. its normal, everyone complains about it. ive done ALL my research! you should google it! i google EVERYTHING! and ive spoken to my dr. the only time really you should seriously worry is if there is PAIN and swelling, and that could mean you may have pre-eclamsia (or toxemia). im swollen too... even my flip flops that are too big, when i take them off my feet swoll around where they were. i cant wear my wedding band or my "replacement FAKE" band. my finger is a 5 and the fake is a 7... right now i would say my finger is prolly a 9. and it gets worse. sometimes only my right ankle, leg, foot and toes will swell. its almost over for you! just hang in there! try to drink LOTS of water and limit your sodium intake to reduce the swelling, and rest with your feet elevated.

Probably not..... Try lying with your feet elevated on a bunch of pillows (try to get your feet higher than your heart).... Drink lots of water.... If after 1 hour you see absolutely zero improvement or if it's worsened... you might want to start keeping close watch on things. Especially if you start noticing swelling in your face....
In general, swelling at this late stage of pregnancy is pretty normal... try to relax.... you're almost there! Congrats!

If your blood pressure is high, or if you have protein in your urine, you should go to the ER, as these symptoms can be related to pre-eclampsia. Otherwise, it's generally best drink plenty of water, and avoid salt and caffeine to keep from retaining any more water than you must. Keeping your feet elevated may help as well.
Good luck!

Yes most definatly. i think its a sign of something going wrong. i just went to the ER last weekend with bleeding and one of the first questoins they asked is if i was having sudden swelling anywhere... then she even looked at my feet to make sure after i told her no.

depends, is it sudden? have any other symptoms like abdominal pain, severe headaches, a change in reflexes, reduced output of urine or no urine, blood in the urine, dizziness or excessive vomiting and nausea.
can yo ucheck your BP? do you have visual changes or are you seeing sparkles and spots in front of your eyes. any of these symptoms with the swelling warrants a call to the doc or ER trip(actually they would likely tell you just to go to L&D).
best of luck

this is normal and no reason to go to the ER. call your OB if you have any questions.
