i have a xj600n 1998 and have seen a chain and sprocket kit for sale. is this all i need and what does endless chain meen? here is the link to the ebay site.

According to the description, it will fit your bike.
You may need a new lock washer for the F sprocket.
If it's not to bent up, it can be used again.
Like "crash" said, an endless chain has no master link.
The hassle with endless chains is, to install it, the swing arm has to be removed.
You can remove a link with a chain breaker and install a master link.

an endless chain has no master link. so make sure it's made for your bike as you cannot change the length

it means the chain is over size (long) you make it the right size for your bike go to this site it tells you how to do it!
