I was recently involved in a transaction online over a gold bracelet stamped "14KGS" on the clasp. I was told this means it is not real gold (as in "14 K" gold), but that it is gold plated. I want to know if this is true.

14 kilograms (kgs) the weight of the chain?

It certainly is not 14 K.
I've never heard of 14kgs
I'd be careful if the jewelry was represented as 14 carats
Also the clasp could be plated; Is there a 14Kt stamped on the bracelet itself? If it isn't then it definitely isn't 14Kt

14 KGS. Is gold shelled as in plated. Not solid.

If it were plated the stamp would say 14KGP. The "S" usually stands for the stone or style not the gold.
