Of the macaque's nearly 3 billion DNA base pairs, 93.5 per cent are identical to those in the human genome. This is not unexpected for a species whose lineage diverged from our own about 25 million years ago. The human and chimp genomes, which diverged just 6 million years ago, are about 98 per cent identical.
The Pope has recognised that science has much proof of evolution but points out that as it took place over millions of years final proof will probably never be found.
The trouble with fundamentalists sticking rigidly to biblical text is that it contradicts itself. Also that in the bible it says a "day to you is a thousand years to me" over time the day for us has grown a lot shorter meaning the day was much longer at the beginning of time. So time scales are distorted.
But consider this - are you saying God was too inept or stupid to use evolution as his tool?
I would finally point out that you must be very young as you asked a closed question - one where you ask and answer at the same time. That shows you are intolerant of others and will only accept one answer. No wonder Christians are often labelled as closed minded on here.
Remember God was a loving, inclusive and forgiving God!!!

What a stupid notion: humans originated from monkeys! Back about 6 million years ago humans started branching away from our nearest primate cousins (orangutans or chimpanzees, I think), whereas monkeys are so far removed from humans that the branches must have split over 20 million years ago. And what does the Bible have to do with Science? If you wish to believe in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, that is your business, but don't foster it on me.

Not monkeys, but we share a common ancestor with chimpanzees and mountain gorillas. The split occurred about 9 million years ago. Chimps evolved for the tropical forest, mountain gorillas for the cloud forest and we slowly moved onto the grasslands and became bipedal. For that we pay a heavy price or rather our female kin do - it's what makes childbirth so dangerous for us.
Quite frankly I'm quite proud to have a mountain gorilla as a distant relative.
I go by what can be observed and tested to be true, not by what rattles around inside peoples heads, it seems to me thats where the deceptions are, and the truth really is "out there".

If you have no doubt, then why ask the question? The truth is, we did not evolve from monkeys, and no scientist has EVER made that claim. Monkeys and humans shared an ancestor way back in our evolutionary history. Since that ancestor, humans have taken a separate evolutionary path from that taken by monkeys. Clear?
