well, a girl "goes lesbian" in the same way that another girl might "go straight." why do some people like hip-hop? why do some people like country music? why do some people prefer mac and others pc? it's just the way it is. people are various.

I love it when people like bamboomohawk try to tell women about women...I find it hilarious!! I am a lesbian and I was born this way. I have never "gone" lesbian. I didn't tell others about my orientation until I was an adult for fear of what they would say. I have never had a traumatic experience with men; nor do I hate men. I have many close male friends. I am also not a "butch" dyke; I am one of those lesbians that you would not stereotype as that. Yes indeed some women hate men because of past experiences, but then again everyone is different. I have never fallen in love with men, and have even been engaged before (trying to fit in the mold).

I really do not think that girls "go" lesbian. I'm straight, I have a BF, but I cannot lie and say that I do not find other females attractive. But my theory is that to some extent, and most often depending on the level of alcohol in our systems, every girl is bi. I also think that it is plain and simple curiousity.

I have yet to meet ANY lesbian who "Turned" lesbian for ANY reason.
I have never known ANY lesbian who was physically or emotionally abused by a male/s.
I, myself, have never been victimized or abused or truamatized...I've ALWAYS been a lesbian.

But that doesn't mean I've never had relationships with men. I simply wasn't able to accept that I was a lesbian until later as an adult.
THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL.

hey. im not a lesbian, im bi but i know being lesbian is something u have it since the day u were born. family and friends, or social enviroment may influence ur choices! hell i like girls and i cannot change it!& i try hard cos i know its not right becos im a christian. if it was my choice i'd turn to straight, no doubt.

Usually they were victomized by men in their developing years. Either they were molested by Father, Uncle, brother or the neighbor and that makes them scared of men and penises or they are not very attractive or sexual to men ie. flat chested, fat, ugly. So some become "butch dikes" which are basically men haters who are consumed with penis envy and they dress like boys and cut their hair short and want to have relationships with sexy, cute long haired girls---just like a boy would want----and they are the dominate partner in the relationship and are usully sexually agressive. They often times want to use dildos or other rubber penises on their partners to re-enact the abuse they received from men. That is the first type of "lesbian".
The second type is the college girl bi-curious or "it's cool and different to dig your own sex" thing where they were not traumatized by men and just want to do what is cool or that there parents will hate. These types dont look like bull-dikes and usually bounce back and forth from men to women. They are not men-haters. They might think it's "rebellious" to do it, but they usually go back to men after the thrill wears off, or after nobody cares anymore.
By the way---no one is "born gay". The fact is true lesbians have an adversity towards men but they often times won't face it or admit it. You will notice that gay men dont hate women---point in case it's a unique thing about lesbians
