God dammit, the best vacation must be at the beach definitely, and sometimes you don't have to go to where all the folks are swimming.
This weekend I went with my family to a gorgeous little beach in the West of Ireland and very few folks even know about the existence of it.
There's no sand at all - just billions of tiny pieces of corals! And water is transparent like in Maldives....

My dream vacation is a cruise to Alaska. I want to see and photograph some pristine places before I die. I want to see whales, eagles, elk, moose, mountains, ice floes, etc. I want to revel in the beauty of nature.

id say like on a beach in a more tropical place such as barbados or puerto rico(whcih i go to every yr, but it gets better each time) and if i went to the dessert, id love to go to egypt.
