Yes I wish Bob and Bono would just F**k off with their self -righteous clap trap.
They are not the only ones who care they are just lucky to be in a position where they can attract lots of attention.

To listen to the pair of them you would think we were all deliberatly with holding money from starving children.
They get on my nerves

I can't answer the question properly. There are so many questions that needs to be answered first. Like who appointed Geldof to be a spokesman for Africa? What do they mean by 'Africa' anyway? The entire continent? EVERY single country there is in so much need? WHY WHY WHY do we NEVER see an AFRICAN begging bread from these 'other' countries? Why aren't they their own spokesman? Does that mean something? Like they are not wanting, they haven't got access to ask or what? What considerations has been given to the cultures of these vast countries and are we to dump 'aid' and that's it? How much is this dependency destroying their way of life if at all - for example what did all these people do BEFORE aid? Do they now sit around waiting for aid to come rather than be nomadic travelling the Continent trading their wares and others who were hunter gatherers now get their food from the 'West' rather than from the jungle? It's so important we should hear FROM the African countries themselves then some whinny white man moaning about another white European country not giving aid.

They've donated millions, I know that for a fact. The work they do isn't aimed at just earning money for third world countries, it's about raising worldwide awareness of the problems that exist (because unfortunately there are a lot of people who don't know) and also at getting first world countries to drop the third world debt, because that will do more good than any amount of money that is donated.

I completely agree that both Bono and Bob Geldof are smug and irritatingly vocal about the good work they do, but I don't think there's anyone better to do the job. Aside from the fact that they're both in the public eye, they're both from Ireland, a country that was only declared a first world country by EU standards in 1999. My point is they remember Ireland when it wasn't so good, and while it was never as severe as the conditions in Africa, they know what it's like to live in a poor country.

Lets just keep it all in perspective.

There are poor hungry sick and dieing children that just need a little help from us all to stay alive and be more comfortable in their little bodies. I don't think any one of us should be suffering in such a way.

Many of us low, medium and high income earners do give to such causes and yes I do think that the rich and famous could do a lot more.

In the year 2007 it's shame on the Earth's population to allow this to continue. Shame on us too for killing each other in wars. Shame on us for destroying the home that gives us life - our planet Earth. Shame on us for not acting to slow down global warming.

Shame on any one of us Leaders and all for not caring.

Bob Geldof could influence some of the leaders and the rich and famous, perhaps more than we can - he does after all move in their circles.

Bless all the little children - they are the future - a simple factual statement. We will let them all die?

People like this are needed, do you know how much or how little these people give to these causes.
So they give everything away and become paupers, Do you think they will have any influence?
We have seen the results of G8 so it is obvious that politicians do not have the will so Geldoff and co are needed
You might not like the message or the messenger, but maybe the message is needed

you read my mind. especially bono who apparently does all he can not to pay tax. i don't mind people who earn their own money for them to preach to the general public about donating is ludicrous. i remember bono bleating on about those red mobile phones which if you buy them £10 goes to aids charity and i thought you could donate £10 million easy and still live a luxury lifestyle. i honestly would slap those two men if i ever had the privilege to meet them

Don't write these guys off because of the sound bites you get through your teev. They're just as pissed off as the rest of us about the way Africa is totally #@&%**d up and they're trying to shape the way politics translates into action by mingling with the suits at G8 and whatever. The thing for me is that they seem to be wanting to hold countries to their monetary pledges, whereas if it were me in the wrap around orange shades and leather jacket, I'd be getting the suits to totally attach any kind of aid to responsible government and making the focus of any aid package education rather than saying "yep 50 billion should do it!"

To quote my Indonesian next door neighbour - "They are bunch of total wanker and not saint - they already rob from poor". Shes mad, but shes right.
They refuse to acknowledge that what the rich nations give with one finger they take with both hands.
They are trying to sort out the problem with the worlds poorest based on figures by the worlds most powerful. I don't deny the level of AWARENESS they have brought, but they are simply not stopping the rich getting richer - thats the key here.

Yes, their constant whining really gets my goat.

Does Geldof or Bonehead have any qualifications in economics or world politics? No.

They are two-bit music monkeys who didn't do very well at school, and got lucky. They should stick to what they know - making rubbish music, and getting old.

They are not making people feel guilty they are highlighting a cause for people and being representatives...

The people who should feel guilty are the conglomerates and multi national companies who exploit Africa for their gain..e.g. testing of pharmaceuticals in human trials for money that can be lethal so that drugs can be patented and sold in the west... comnpanies who depend wholly of the produce of africa but then pay the growers a near fraction for all their effort...what it is ..is about helping others beat the cycle of negativity so that they can flourish and when they do they can help themselves...
