If you ever want to see gas prices to go down, chemistry is one of the best promises for that to happen, since it would be used to make the next generation of fuel for cars.

some of the most hot topics are fuel need (gasoline may end up with in 50 years), pollution water resourcess also decreasing, ozone layer, ... etc
actually the result and the solution of these problems are related chemistry and chemical engineering.
the search for alternative fuels are carried away by chemical engineers and chemists, fuel is very important for everything around u u can not do anything without fuel.
actually pollution is generated by the people in industry who are chemical engineers or chemists but again the solutions and precautions are investigated by them. early stages of developments people did not consider the environmental facts while producing something for human wealth, environment was not a factor but at these days it became a main consideration while doing any improvements or designing a plant. actually this paragraph is not very related to ur question but i wanted to mention something about pollution etc.
all the things that u use on household are also products of chemistry industry. ur shampoo, detergent etc...
but the most important thing nowadays is the search for alternative fuel i think as u know fuel unfortunately may result the 3rd world war :)

It is everywhere. Some examples are
- Paint
- fuel
- All plastics
- detergents that you use to clean clothes, dishes, furniture and yourself
- cosmetics
- sunscreens
- Elastic
- Material, ie clothes that you are wearing, furnishings
- water purification
- roads that we drive on
- all concrete
- all of the material that your house is made of
- all paper
- etc
Virtually everything you do or do is affected by chemistry to a large or small extent. Some of the processes are natural and some are synthetic; it is all chemistry. Even when you cook you cause chemical changes within the food. Your body is dependant on chemistry to function.
These are only things that we have an effect on and that you encounter in daily life. Other examples are the effect of man made chemicals on the ozone layer, the release of CO2 and other chemicals into the atmosphere and its global effect on climate, pollution of the oceans.
Chemistry is all around us.

With environmental issues becoming so urgent, a shift toward nuclear energy is becoming more necessary. Chemistry is vital in the medical field in the development of new vaccines as the threat of germ warfare becomes more real. Why do you ask?
