So the college I'm attending is having a math placement test next week and they sent a review packet for us to do. I've got most of them down, but there are a few problems that I couldn't find help in from either the review packet or my old math text books. If you could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

1. A factor of (4/9)y^2 - 81 = ?

2. If 2x + ax/b = 2, then x = ?

3. (16x^8y^-4)^3/4 = ?

4. x^(2-k) / x^(5-2k) = ?

5. A factor of x^4y^2 - 2x^3y^3 - 3x^2y^4 = ?
[[The equation should read x to the power of 4 times y to the power of 2 minus... etc.]]

6. log base 1/2 [1/16(1/2)^-9] = ?

7. (x/y) - (y/x) / x^2-y^2 = ?

8. A factor of 12x^2+x-6 =?

9. One of the roots of x^2+2x-5=0 is ?
[I'm thinking using the quadratic equation, but my answer didn't come out in any of the selections.]

10. If log z = 2/3 log x-2 log y, then z=?

Really appreciate if you could help answer all of them (Show some work so I understand please) by Sunday, since the test is Monday! Thanks!

I learned this material a long time ago. I just need a refresher. My math text books aren't helpful since it's mainly an exercise book and I'm pressed for time. If I were not pressed for time (thank you college for sending the material yesterday), I would more than happily research the answers to my problems.

Why do you seek placement in math courses for which you are not ready?
