Look at it another way, she should have just put herself and bf on the from line. She was trying to include his father's family and goofed it up. I would not be mad....just disappointed that she did not call to get the appropriate name(s).

I'm wondering what her purpose was in placing an ad, versus
giving him a special card that could say more. Was it the fact
he'd see his picture in the paper and feel it was a big deal?
Or was it her intention to make you feel left out of the picture,
not being related by blood? If she isn't catty or vindictive, I'd
think maybe she wanted this to be something special for her
grandson only. Nothing you can do about it, so don't stress
over it. Just be pleased for him that he has a clipping he
can save when he grows up he can be proud of in a scrap
book of things when he was growing up.

May not have been appropriate the way she worded it, but I think she had good intentions of trying to include everyone in the birthday wish. Divorce is never easy, and birthdays, holidays, and other events make it even more awkward for parties involved. The only way I could see the wording any different would have been mom, dad, etc, but then someone else would have been upset because they weren't named ahead of the other.

Tell your husband to let it go. She, as well as he, has the right to do as they wish to celebrate their child's birthday.
If he's going to get upset about such a trivial issue, he's in for a very long and disturbed life.
This is NOT a hill worth dying over.

You shouldn't take it too far. It was for their son happiness. Besides, she put her boyfriend's name too. At least their son would think his parents still care even they're divorce. Is there other reasons for you to feel offended or jealous to your husband's ex before?.

If she put her boyfriend's name on it and not yours and you are the child's stepmother, I think that was rude of her.
After all this was a gift to the child and she should not have used this time to personally attack you.
Or ignore your existence.

She paid for the birthday announcement, she can put in it what she wants. She didn't have to include your husband, but she did.
He should let it pass, and do it himself next year, and put in YOUR names, and then his ex and her bf.

Why not? She was probably trying to be nice and you are making way too much of this. She wanted to include the boy's father...he should say Thank You!

She paid for it so she could put whatever she wanted. If it upset him so much next year he needs to put one in first.
