I hope someone will explain to me why this question is asked? It's asked several times a day and I don't understand why. Are you trying to learn what people collect so you can figure out what to sell, or do you want to collect things but you don't know what?

Asking what you collect is like asking if you have a hobby. It is a good way to start a conversation especially if the person who starts the conversation is a collector of something too. If you have any interest in what the other is doing, you would ask what he or she is collecting to get the conversation going.
It is a bonus connection if both of you share common interest in the things you collect. It does not have to be a thing. For example, I like to collect ideas on how you can create craft with abandoned material aka waste material. What do you collect?

Maybe they are just curious, and can't think of anything to ask. I personally think it is a waste of points.

mmmm...maybe its human nature to nosey i guess.. yea maybe they got things to sell and they are looking for the perfect 'victim'... or maybe like you had said they are second hand stuff collecters...
