Knowledge & understanding are more important. W/o that, action can be downright deadly. One must have an understanding before one acts.

Application and action would be the most important. One that has knowledge and understanding has been given a gift. In order for anything to be accomplished and have meaning one must take the knowledge and understanding and follow through with application and action. This method applies to any information for an individual thus accomplishing something and moving forward as an individual with development , growth, and insight.

I would tend to believe that understanding things is more important then action. Anyone can act without understanding why or what will happen as a result of these actions. It is understanding these actions that separates us from the animals. I mean this in the purest sense of being animal like. The whole idea of acting without thinking. This is a primal instinct and does not take into account the understanding of it.

A decison on this is a very important step for achieving desired END RESULTS. Now , for good results we always have to work on a well thought of action plan. For an effective action plan we have to develop a good understanding of what are the results we want to achieve and the knowledge of the inputs which will be required .

Hence we can conclued that UNDERSTANDING leads to ACTION . So understanding is more important.

all three roles are important to survive on this planet.most important is spiritual development.if you are spiritually developed i.e you are spiritually calm you can win over everything. To be spiritually calm you need to have knowledge and understanding b'coz there is saying which goes like " little knowledge can be dangerous".Therefore, apply your knowledge and take a decisve action.
As far as society and family is concerned you can not ignore them as for your family you are precious and role in society you are suppose to play diligently because when take from the society, you are suppose to pay them back i.e to serve them at your level best.

The most important thing is understanding the existence of the dualities in everything. The contras are there, like the two sides of the same coin.

Now understanding the most important thing, you will be able to find yourself, that some understanding is there behind every action and in every understanding, some action is also there.

application and action foremost.

What are u going to do with knowledge If you are not going to take an action with it. Most people have knowledge from holy books etc... but how many of them apply it to their everyday life? Hardly anyone. Everyone is after materialistic things.

To develop Spiritual, first you must take an action toward it like starting mediation etc, THEN from that ACTION you will gain KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING to take other actions and applications... if any

This is a difficult question. I mean action would be my logical reply BUT action without understanding can be a disaster. So I must say understanding the picture followed by a quick action.

I gave the commencement address to my nursing school class on graduation day from college. I quoted something that I had read that said "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." So the answer to your question is they are equally important. One must understand a situation before one can appropriately act.
