I just wonder who and how in "small-town" usa or anywhere.... you can get an honest opinion.....

I'm not sure what you're going to the doctor for, but I would recommend going to a specialist in the field of medicine that is causing you problems.

I know of someone who had a friend who had to get 4 opinions on her problem before she agreed to take the next step. Sometimes it can take seeing several drs to get answers. If you are close to a Medical School to your town you could try there to see if they have any experience with the kind of problem you are having.

I would definitely recommend a 4th opinion. Something that I've learned even about my family member's situation (she was diagnosed with breast cancer) is to go ahead and get several opinions (we had her get 3) to make sure that all bases were covered.

I also had to go to several drs in 2003 to cover the bases for a problem I was having.

I don't know which drs as far as specialties you have already seen for your problem but depending on the problem area I would recommend trying to consult an internist if you haven't already and maybe a rheumatologist (dr that treats diseases and disorders of the bones and joints). The reason for an internist is because sometimes they are very good at figuring out complicated cases. But please don't give up on trying to find an answer although I know sometimes it can be very easy to do. I went thru this 10 years ago when I started out with some of my problems, and again just recently with some more problems where I was just about to give up and came up with other possible pieces to solve the problem.

Maybe try going to a well-known hospital with a good reputation, or like someone mentioned above, try seeing a specialist. That should put your mind at ease.
