If the half that is left has the serial number on it-YES!
However,some Banks can refuse!
Try your Own Local Branch-they maybe more favorable!

I am sure that I have sent a bag of fluff from a note left in a pocket to the Bank of England and been given the full value, so you should be OK.
Ask what to do at your bank, you may need to send it to the Bank of England.

You can try that and if they don't take it I know the U.S. department of treasury will take the destroyed or damaged money you have, determine how much it is worth (in this case it would be obvious) and reimburse you for it. They do this all the time for natural disaster victims and also for people like yourself.

yes...go to post office, tell them what you've done and they'll give you a form to fill in and send off, turnaround time about 10 days!
