Like let's say I asked a question on Yahoo! Answers that said this:

"Would you call this number, cuss them out, then hang up?"

Then list the number.
Is this illegal?

Yes as you would soliciting harassment and as you would be posting the request in a public forum, it could be traced back to you and used against you (especially if a real whacko jumps on your bandwagon and calls non-stop).

It would also be a violation of Yahoo Questions Terms and Conditions and the question would eventually end up being removed and you would be issued a warning; after enough violations, they suspend, then terminate your Yahoo Answers account.

Additionally, it would not speak well of you and shows lack of maturity and guts to try to get strangers to do the dirty work for you.

Um, YES! And not just with the intent that they will be harassed; but posting other people's information online without permission is a criminal offence. It breaches the constitutional right to privacy as well as various international declarations and conventions. You're releasing personal information that you don't have the right to give out. You can get fined, AVO'd, sued for defamation and damages and you can get up to 10 years jail time; and if the person whose information you're handing out is under the age of 18 you can be tried under conventions that protect children as well, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child. I wouldn't plan on doing it if I were you, because this question is now considered as premeditation of a crime and the people who read it are now witnesses.

It may not be illegal, but it may cause you legal troubles from the owner of that number. Think twice and use reasoning before posting.

yes...you can get in very bad trouble for doing that. a friend of mine did that to get back at the girl her bf was cheating with. and it's considered an invasion of privacy. the girl had the cops trace the i.p. address and they charged her, i forget the actual names of the charges but there were three, cost her a ton of money and embarassment. in the end it was better her bf cheated and left her he was a scumbag.

It's a violation of Yahoo's TOS, at least, and can get your account yanked.

It would also possibly be illegal under harassment laws.

It's also incredibly stupid and childish.

I'm not certain of its legality, however, it is morally wrong and incredibly childish. I do know you could be sued for it. AND it goes against Y/A rules!
