Most humans do not understand the concept of spirit. They are more focused on primitive materialistic goals and needs. They only believe what they can see. Many people are not open to other possibilities. However, what is ironic, is that there are many dimensions of spirits walking among us right now.

So while people are making fun of you, the truth surrounds them. Many humans are ignorant of the vast power of Creation and the Universe. Science will prove these things later on.

Also, many people only believe what they read or are told. They do not discover life on their own. They feel comfortable living in a socially comfortable society without the courage to look for the truth. Because they are worried about the same thing you are. They do not want to be called crazy or be made fun of.

Spirituality is crucial to your development as a Soul. The very denial of the spirit is the denial of your existence. Without Heart, feeling, or understanding of the Spirit, you are a physical empty shell of nothingness competing for material goods. Creation has more in store for your immortal Soul. Don't waste it on ignorance and the negativity of others.

Be yourself and dig deeper into the knowledge and wisdom of the Universe.

It depends on the person. Maybe it is for the same reason that religious wars start. Maybe it is because they are insecure about their own beliefs. Maybe it is because they view you as a total psychopath.

You have to think about it -- people like you (and me) sound completely crazy to anyone who is not open to the ideas. It isn't their fault that they see us that way, since they have no experience that has taught them to be open-minded. It's one of the few things that nobody ever made a nursery rhyme, fable, or story to teach in childhood. Open-mindedness is now aquired by learning that anything really may be possible.

The result, however, is that they don't see people with these beliefs as having valid religious beliefs. They see us as deluded fools, and attmept to act superior to this by pointing it out and ridiculing it. It's probably all a way to gain status, or better your image in the community. But you are right; the "paranormal" is getting more common, and it might not put them in good standing with others for very long.

And you are right -- nobody should tell anybody what to believe. I will never say to anyone that their religion is wrong, no matter how crazy it sounds, because I know I have seen crazier things. I know that they could still be right. And it just isn't nice.

I am a believer in spirits, as I have had out-of-body experiences in my youth. People tend to make light of things they have no experiences of. I am open to the possibility of the existence of supernatural beings, but our world is just populated with too many weirdos and mental cases. I just cannot take the word of a stranger as fact. You may be legit, but how am I to know for sure?

People make fun of other people for two reasons maybe. First, the person may not understand or experience the same emotions or feelings and hence, make fun because they are jealous. They make light of the situation because they don't understand it and really want to learn more about it perhaps. My mother in law is a very jealous person. She tries to make jokes about things she does not understand all the time rather than ask questions about or try to understand someone else's perspective.

The other reason could be the person is really trying to make a joke of a situation. I personally take things seriously most of the time. I guess I do not have a great sense of humour. Other people around me make jokes all the time and I don't understand them but I never joke back. I remain true to myself and the golden rule of doing unto others as I would do unto them, so I don't joke or put down others for what I do not understand.

I dream a lot and read this wonderful book about your window of the soul. It talks about getting in touch with your subconscious and things to do in order to achieve that. It suggests being peaceful to your self and others. To read and relax before going to sleep in the evening. Listening to classical music.

My best to you. Good luck in all you do.

different strokes for different folks
People often feel that an unexplained occurence or unproven exisitence is too intangible Its easier to discuss things that one can touch and feel that are more common and concrete. Spiritual or abstract ideas are more difficult to grasp and can sound silly or scary. It depends on what degree and how it fits in to one's beliefs. Superstition for instance has led to sufferring of people.... religious beliefs are often blamed for causing wars and sufferring (but was that the religious belief or one's manipulation of that faith for their own personal gain?) often the core beliefs are in harmony with a productive society.Just some thoughts

People make fun of everything. We need comedy. When it comes to making fun of other peoples believes, it is harder for people to shrug it off. Because it hits deeper. Some believes are harder for other people to understand so they do not know how to "tread carefully" like they would in situations they are more familiar with and know making a joke would be inappropriate.

People fell uncomforable in things they do not understand, so the only way to get out of the felling is to make fun. But inside they want or afraid to believe.

Some things, and some people, are just funny. That's just the way the mind works. It would be a boring world if everyone had a flat reaction to every thing.

Some people have a hard time believing unless they see it first hand, even then some people make excuses for not believing.
What you believe is your decision and choice, as for me I believe and I can understand others who have had encounters.
