If you minus a -ve it is the same as addition

1/3-(-1/4)= 1/3+1/4

to add fractions you need the same denominators (bottom numbers)

an easy way to get the common denominator is to multiply them together ie. 3x4=12

remember what you do to the bottom number you need to do to the top number ie. 1/3 = 4/12 which is 1x4 / 3x4 = 4/12

the same with the other fraction 1/4 = 3/12 which is 1x3 / 4x3 = 3/12

Therefor 1/3-(-1/4)=?
= 1/3 + 1/4
= 4/12 + 3/12
= 7/12
