Not just Maddie, for example the sad,sad story of the two year girl, bruttally kicked and punched by her "wealthy businessman "dad. I would like to know what the mother was doing cause she was in the apartment at the time. How could she not react to her child's screams?? He snapped due to stress and now under sucicide watch? Aww, what a shame. I hope he goes to prison for murder, she for neglect, but being wealthy, no chance!!
Another story, children died, along with their father, cause he had issues with the mother and set fire to the house. Is there a pattern here? That children cannot be safe with their fathers anymore?? For your information, I'm not a man-hating single mother! Just sickened over these stories.

I don't think it is a case of giving up children. I think there are a lot of irresponsible cruel adults who shouldn't have children.

There should be much higher penalties for abuse, neglect and especially murder where children are concerned.

The trouble is anyone can have a child, but not everyone is a good parent.

The media can bring bad news from all over the world, they don't seem interested in giving us good news.

No pattern at all. We should not give up havung children because that is what the world is made of. Only the odd few kill there children and it is them we should be concetrating on.

Just ceause one person is bad doesnt mean everybody is going to be. You have got the wrong end of the stick all together. WE are over populated but that is nnot a reason to stop having children. The more people animals etc you have the more likely it is that something will go wrong. this is a brilliant insight into your mind.. You are depressed. You might be broody too but i think more dpressed. The whole world isnt bad because of one apple. YOU are mostly broody too and you are worried that you might hurt a child if you had one. Dont worry ...people that ask these types of question are always the best type of mother/faather/parents!!!!!!

There are bad people everywhere and unfortunatly some of them are fertile and able to reproduce.

But some people are mentally ill, we need to assist and support research into menal illness as much as possible so we can begin to understand what makes people 'snap' like this.

Mental illness isn't an excuse for doing wrong but it is a factor in why many people act the way they do.

Many many mothers have harmed their babies whilst in the darkest depths imaginable of Post Natal Depression. Slowely but surely the stigma attached to this illness is fading and people are being more open about it and therfore are getting the help they need. It has been suggested fathers may go through something similar. Whether this is true or not I don't know but we need to be more accepting of all kinds of illnesses. Maybe then people won't try to hide it and get the help they need rather than bottling it up and 'snapping' like this.

anyone with an ounce of humanity, can't help but find these stories upsetting & unforgivable.
where's the excuse for this sort of nastiness?
there aren't any, never will be any but as long as we are outraged, i think humanity will survive.
you stick to feeling like you do & i will too,
when our outrage stops, then i think we're on a really bad slippery slope toward horror-fatigue.
we can't allow that to happen.
that's going to be a worse outcome.
we have to voice our disgust & demand the Establishment to stop these sorts of things happening in the first place, it's more their responsibility than it is ours!
& there's nothing wrong with single mothers, you won't get a word in hate from me.
i was 1, once.
it's about time money stopped being an blanket to protect the guilty, so i know exactly what you mean.
many a multi-millionaire villain has tied the Justice System in knots when is the Law going to move beyond money & stick to the facts?
Justice is indeed not blind when it comes to money.

I know it makes me very upset to read this kind of thing. The father that gave methodone to his 8 month old to make him sleep! He died, and the father has been imprisoned this week.
I dont think the Father of the two year old will get away with it though just because he is wealthy.
There has been a recent spate, over last twelve months or so of Dads killing children to get at mums, or it seems that way as I can think of a number of cases.
All you can do is trust the fella you had kids with. I trust mine wouldnt use the kids to get at me. Thats all I can do, I cant do anything about other womens men....

You would think that by now women have been educated about the dangers of high risk men in their lives and their kid's lives. It shocks me that mothers don't know what is going on. Sometimes the woman is so impaired in her own way that she is a bad parent for a child. Help is everywhere if a woman wants out of a dangerous lifestyle. I just hate it when I read that a mother doesn't advocate for her kid and puts some sick beast first in her life. I don't hate men but come on! We have to get real about the risks that some men pose to women and kids. In the news program this evening, a man who has been a Prin/Teacher/Scout Lder was arrested with a warehouse of porn, all of it with little boys. They have sent all of this stuff to a national database to try and identify the kids. So far no one local has stepped forward about abuse. This 53 year old was past Pres of the NEA and had multiple avenues of access to kids. Trust no one around those children. Best of luck to you!!

I agree with you in what you are saying with the fact that most abuse (certainly sexual, and possibly violent) is caused by males. But in recent times there has been plenty of females who have caused abuse to the point of death. look at the case of Victoria Clumbie sent to the uk for a better life. Then like something out of a twisted Roald Dahl story she is tortured to death by her Aunt and boyfriend.
There was of cause Rosmary West, Myra Hindley.
I know what you are thinking that the three names mentioned do have males involved but of all the three mentioned the women had an active role and with probably Myra Hindley aside they knew exactly what they were doing and were as evil and as calculating as the men.
I think there is probably just as many evil women as men it is just that the men probably get more of a mention because what they is more likely to involve physical harm (i.e sexual abuse). But say for instance a child growing up in a one or two parent family but the parent/s are alcholics or drug users and they have to cope with verbal (and possibly physical abuse). I mean these will be going on all day everyday and these are never reported but the children in these households have to live through this day in day out, not knowing what is going to happen from one day to the next.
These children are innocent victims against adults who need help but for what ever reason can't or wont get it so take out there anger and frustration out on the poor innocents. I am not saying that the above cases are important and sad, but I just wanted to speak from experience by saying that even though there aren't high profile there is still children out there who are abused every single day who don't get the publicity and more important the help that they need.

It was horrible I don't see why you blame the mother though - you don't know that she was a) in the room and b) didn't try to stop it. You're jumptng to conclusions.
There are always sad stories - but what is the alternative? If we have no children, then the population will come to an end. Kids are always vulnerable. We should learn to take better care of them and value them more.

We are all sickened by these stories, and wish we could do something about them, but this seems to be how the world is now, but not all parents are like this, not all children get punched, kick and killed or have been left to be abducted, through the neglect of there parents, thank god there are some of us who love our children and would do anything for them, to keep them safe and out of harms way.

My Mom read me a story the other day about lawlessness and rights being eroded and children running wild doing what they wanted and the attitude of entitlement some feel. She asked me to guess where it happened. I thought recent news but no, IT WAS WRITTEN BY SOCRATES HUNDRED OF YEARS AGO!!!

It only goes to show if we went on that argument there would be no children in the world but the bad things would not stop and all would cease to exist.

Every era had their diseases, depraved individuals but that does not mean that we can still can't make a difference and bring children into this world to love.
