How much of a future do ya' think the USA and other islands, countries, and continents will have if they don't go into outer space in the next 5 to 15 years? You know, the big advancement in life...Living in space. And beyond.Anyway.Do you think it's a great idea for mankind to reach the stars or completely avoid it...?I personally say go for it!What about any of you?...Thanks for the response.

This little grain of sand is ideally suited to support protoplasmic human life. To our present knowledge no other place in the universe is so ideally suited although we postulate many other such places exist. The time constraints of space travel and the physical limitations of physical protoplasm preclude any long distance space exploration. Worm holes and the folding of the space time continuum not withstanding space travel is out of the question for man. In short we aint goin nowhere.
Yet our future depends on being able to extend our influence beyond this solar system. We know that the chemistry and probably physics in other galaxies are much the same as here. Therefore if we could transfer information about ourselves to other worlds it is conceivable that mechanisms could be built to allow a physical presence on another world to have most if not all of the thought processes a physical presence on this planet had just before it was scanned. This person could experience what ever that world had to offer and then return to this world a more knowledgeable and interesting person. This type of travel would even extend individual human life as well probably to many centuries. While the physics is out of our reach today the concept is not. Wrote a book of a sort about this but never got it published. Don't know how to do that.

I'd say that getting a wide scale migration into space won't be happening in the next 5 to 15 years, we're planning to get to the moon again in that time period, and maybe mass migrations will come after that?

Space is difficult, if something fails it can be impossible to replace, the same is true on Earth, but Earth has the resources to replenish what we break (to a point)

I think eventually we'll be forced to go into space, but not any time in my lifetime...

We do have the Space Station, which may serve as a prototype, which houses a few individuals, but we have yet to step foot on another planet or establish any permanent residencies in space...

So, basically, i think that the world will have a future without immediate migration into space, but eventually the space program will become sufficiently advanced as to allow living in space.

Going into space, what do you think about it?

well, if we dont go for it than the entire human race will eventually die. when the sun kills us all. sure it may be in a few billion years but that isnt stopping it from happening. if we never reach for the stars we will never afoid being killed by the sun. so for everyones sake, lets get all the problems sorted out now before we need to do a mass evacuation of earth.
