I constantly have problems with it dropping my connection. Other than running a separate line, how can I fix this?

Use a cable signal booster or send the cable straight to your cable modem and split it right there, then run the cable to splitters and other tv's etc.

You sure it's a 2-way splitter? it could even be the line from the pole. Call the ISP and have them run a test on the line.

could be bad splitter. get one (usially free from cable provider store)
could be bad line coming from outside.
in either way, call cable provider, they will walk you thru testing and will let you know what exactly is the issue.
