Yes, it's advisable to continue with college. It's never too late to get your degree. Life is a life-long learning process.

Sure the students around you may be younger than you, but don't let that discourage you. You have the advantage of maturity on your side! If you want to get into the mechanical engineering profession, work hard to finish your degree, participate in an internship and graduate. After graduation find a job and then study hard for your professional license exam.

Best wishes and good luck!

About 7 years ago I started back to college. I had about 60 hours and no idea of what I wanted to major in at the time. To me - you are never too old to start back to college. Think about it like this - every year you will have a birthday - but at the end of the time that you are in college you will have a Bachelors degree. If you choose NOT to go to college - all you will be is another year older - with no Bachelors degree!!! I would start out slow and take only 3 to 6 hours and do REALLY WELL in them. You might be put on academic probation at first. But don't let this get you down. The college that you attend just wants to make sure that you will do well when you are in college.
I was in the same boat as you when I first went back to college. But I figured I'd take it slow and do well this time unlike when I was much younger. Just this semester I completed 13 hours and made 1 A, two B's, and two C's. Just hang in there!!!
By the way I am 51!!! I hope that this is of some help.

I've had students who were MUCH older than 32 in my psychology classes. By all means, do finish your degree. Mature students tend to do well because they are much more focused on their academics instead of next weekend's party...or recovering from the last one. Another advantage of your maturity is that you have a fund of practical experience from which to draw in solving engineering problems. Afterall, engineering is essentially the application of physics and math to practical problems. Good luck!

Check out the local community/junior college. It's a cheap (cheap-ER, I should say) way to raise your gpa. Lots of helpful academic services and other stuff. You can always transfer to a 4-year school if you want to once you have more credits and a better gpa. Tons of transfer scholarships for people over 25, too.
