Dandelions do have some redeeming qualities.
The first is when the root dies in the fall it leaves a hole/gap in the soil, it's called aeration.
You can eat the leaved combined with other wild greens in place of the familiar spinach.
You can make wine as well from the flower.
My grandma made it every year along with elderberry wine. Believe it or not she was a tea teetotaler .
Most people don't understand the function of the plant and they certainly don't see the beauty.

Because when the pretty flower is gone(and they are gone really quick) they look like ugly weeds. Then for each dandelion they have about 50 seeds so before long your yard is all dandelions. They also grow faster than grass so it makes you look like you need to mow sooner than you really do. Once a week is enough for me to have to mow.

Dandelions are a weed that turn into something ugly. Most people would rather have great looking grass than anykind of weed, weather it is pritty or not. Yes there are some gourgous looking weeds, People just don't want weeds in their yard.

u must not have kids! and if u do, u must not let em go out to play! those "weeds" are the cause of thousands of bee stings each month! plus they draw the bees away from other more valuable plants.. like ur garden!

I don't know, I love them too.

I think people are just taught to think of them as a nausence, and so they see them as ugly.
