Names that are spelled really weirdly, with apostrophes or like others said... Don't do things like change Kathy to Kathee or Mary to Maeri.

Spelling variations are okay if it's for a special relative like my daughter's below... Some variations are cute and "make sense", but others just don't. (although I did want to make it the regular Michaela spelling, but I got used to it and love it and truly don't see her as a Michaela and definitely not a Makayla (don't like that version at all).

My ex chose both girls' first names, which I love... Chloe and Mikela. It was BEFORE Chloe or Michaela became trendy. Mikela was named after a close aunt of his (with that spelling).
I loved the sound of Mikela Quinn, but then someone mentioned Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman's real first name is Michaela so I quickly scratched that combo! (I like the show, but not naming a kid that matches something like that!).

Certain old fashioned names are very nice, but some are just bleh. Like Bob, Henry, Harry come to mind.

Great question!! I have to agree with alot of the other posters. I don't like old fashioned names like Mary, Fred, Pam or Joe. But some people go a little too stupid creating new names. And why try and be a pain and spell it different? Cameron is just that, not Kamryn, give me a break! LOL

Anything that rhymes with Aiden - Jayden, Brayden, Hayden. And I know it's "the thing" to spell names funny with extra "Y's" and "X's" etc, but I really find it annoying.
And children named after countries or American states - I live in Australia and it is UNBELIEVABLE how many Montanas, Dakotas and Indianas I meet. Ridiculous! Even more so when the spell them wrong, like "Dekoda".

Names that people just make up off the top of their head. I am all for unique names but Sanquin or something like that is just too much for me. I think kids should be able to say and spell their own name by age 5.

NEVER name a girl after an alcoholic beverage - Brandy, Chianti, Chablis, Sherry, Margarita - she will be a bimbo at best, a sl*t at worse. Never name a girl after a jewel - Diamond, Sapphire, Pearl, Ruby, Topaz - she will be a bimbo at best, a sl*t at worse. Others that spell DOOM: Bambi, Tammy, Brie (it's a CHEESE for heaven's sake!), Brie Ann, Crystal (hard, cold, imitation). Don't name a girl after a current celebrity - Britney, Paris, Madonna it will date the child and everyone will know when she was born. As for boys, Earl (too red), Tyrone (too black), Bruce (too gay), Christian - it's a LOVELY name, but if he's a hellraiser it will be nothing but embarrassing!

The name "Miracle" has been way overplayed.

Why so many parents think that they are the only ones to come up with that name, is beyond me.

And by the way, it's even worse when people try different variations of the spelling of an overplayed name. They are not being unique, they are being lazy and stupid.

Mackenzie and names like it (such as Mackenna, Mackayla etc.). It is just an ugly name to me. Their are sooo many other beautiful names to choose from, I don't know why a parent would give that name to their child.

Also Kathrine and Kathy. They make me think of a forty year old soccer mom in Minnesota.

Names that come right from the scrabble bag. You know 4 vowels 2 y's and a few consonants. I also don't like the really masculine names for girls. For boys I hate the name Jaden/Braden/Caden, etc.

Every variation of Kaitlyn/Kaylin, Mackenzie, Aiden/Jaden; Yasmine, Destiny, Desiree, Chanel and other stripper-sounding names; names with an apostrophe thrown in for no reason; Nevaeh, and too many others to list.
