...oh heck, yes!!...just as long as the story retains the original novella's idea that the world's population has been turned into VAMPIRES by an unknown virus, with the character of Neville being immune to the virus.

The second filmed version of Richard Matheson's classic horror story, "The Omega Man", from 1971, and starring Charleton Heston, WAS pretty good, but the victims of the virus were turned into white haired, albino-skinned psychopaths, rather than vampires.

The first version, the Euro-produced "The Last Man on Earth" (1964, starring Vincent Price, was much closer to the original story; the film also served as inspiration for George A. Romero, when he did the 1968 film, "Night of the Living Dead"..
