San Franciscans are trying to block a show featuring U.S.'s fighter jets. San Franciscans don't like the Navy's world famous Blue Angels.
One anti-American in San Francisco said, "They're weapons of mass destruction and there's really nothing, I think, about them that people should think of as being good or desirable".

From a supporter of the shows: "The FAA approves all their maneuvers. Most of the difficult maneuvers and high turn maneuvers are done in an air show box over the [water] that's kept clear of vessels and people."

No, the Federal Government has no standing to order the community to not invite or welcome the Blue Angels who, by the way, perform by invitation only.
But, instead, let the people of San Francisco show the rest of us who they really are by publicizing their rejection of this fine group.
Let the chips fall where they may, they have to pay for the consequences of their actions. There are many communities who will be more than happy that a new opening has been created.

Ok, let's just all take a breath here. Chris Daly is a nutjob. No one in San Francisco likes or listens to him. He's trying to make noise because he's p.o'ed that he couldn't get enough support to run against Newsom for Mayor. Screwing around with Fleet Week would upset the business community. I recognize that all you who have never spent any time in this city think we are all Godless commies, but the almighty dollar still rules around here -- Newsom and the rest of the board is NEVER going to do something that will hurt Fleet Week because that would cost the real power (Chinatown, the tourist industry near the wharf, Union Square) actual dollars. And, fyi, I'm a liberal who loves San Francisco, and I'm down at Crissy Field EVERY October to watch the show. I'd never abide anything that would detract from this celebration of our brave Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors. I don't care what you say, San Francisco LOVES these heroes (and no, I'm not talking THAT way -- get your mind out of the gutter).

Another "question" out of ignorance. Fleet Week in San Francisco has an attendance in the hundreds of thousands. That is when the Blue Angels are usually there. The Bay Area has a population in the milolions and of course there will be groups that oppose a military presence. There is also a real safety factor. I have had stuff knocked off my furniture by the Blue Angels, but I am used to it having lived outside an Air force base for years.
San Francisco is another Key Hate Work for FOX ""NEWS"""Hate
The majority of people in San Francisco are just like anywhere else.

The Blue Angels practice in the days leading up to the show right over the city, at altitudes sometimes lower than some of the tall buildings. It's noisy and potentially dangerous. However, most of us in San Francisco thought that was pretty cool.

You caused me to overview a few facts about this Chris Daly. From what I've read, it's only discussion and 500 signatures. That certainly does not represent the entire city of San Francisco.
I sure don't know why Global Exchange is involved in this as if they don't have enough on their plate. Code Pink is just another Cindy Sheehan-type group who would probably like to set up shop somwhere in the middle of the war and teach insurgents all about the meaning of Barney and love thy neighbor.
Veterans for Peace is also a small group that, like any other war (Viet Nam) has many "Peace Out Bro" gentlemen who are, apparently, still fighting off PTSD enough to carry out their message "Make Love, Not War".
The truth is, The Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds are the essence of Pride for the United States.
Regardless of how many times legally or illegally this Supervisor got into office, I don't think San Franciscans would stand for this. What would be next? Banning all commercial airlines because of noise pollution and the possibility of an air disaster? Or maybe, if a couple more lobby groups stepped in they could try to ban any nuclear plants within a 2,000 mile radius.........or, ban all HIV cases within the city limits because of the danger?
Good Luck Mr. Supervisor.

A city in America has every right to do as it pleases so long as it is lawful. What is illegal about not liking weapons of mass destruction flying over your city? I personally don't mind...I think they put on a good show. But I believe too, that because someone doesn't go along with the rest of the crowd doesn't make them anti-american. What is anti-american is you calling them anti-american. We are not a nation of sheep! I wish you people would quit trying to make us one!

The anti-American should leave America - The Blue Angels are absolutely incredible - I never miss an air show when they are in town. I am proud to have these exceptional pilots representing the United States of America - what they do is nothing less than spectacular - How could anyone deny the feelings that one experiences when watching - and listening - to them - I get teary-eyed! for real! The Blue Angels Rock!!! USA USA

If SF doesn't want the Blue Angels, fine don't go to the show. Otherwise shut up.

I think the Blue Angels should boycott San Francisco. It's a walking freak show, not an American city.

Yeah, we should kick San Fran out of the US. After all, what's more American than trying to eliminate anybody with a different opinion.
