so my house is otherwise spotless. there are no odours or stains. i'm healthy. my hygiene routine rivals that of patrick bateman from american psycho but i haven't vacuumed in two years. i've used a small hand held vacuum but a couple of weeks ago, that broke. and since, i haven't used any device at all.
what's the big deal about vacuuming?

Good for you-no odors or stains-however, the purpose of vacuuming is to pick up the dirt and dust mites, etc. that accumulate in your carpet. There are even particles of dirt that you are not noticing.
It picks up the dust too when you vacuum.
That will help prevent any possible allergies from starting up from dust, etc. as well.
It is altogether healthier for you to vacuum, at least once per week. Since it has been two years for you, I would suggest vacuuming every day for at least a week.
Also, by vacuuming, you are also helping keep the condition of the carpet in better shape, therefore helping the carpet to last longer before needing to be replaced.
Hope this helps answer your question. Take care.

If you have carpeting, the small particles of dirt/rocks that are tracked in on your shoes will get in the fibers of the carpet and as you walk on them the action will cause the particles to cut the fibers. Your carpet will last longer if it is vacuumed regularly. If you have hard flooring, the dust will scratch the surfaces and they will appear dull. A vacuum with a moving brush is the best way to go.

If you have carpets, vacuuming will help the carpets last longer. Dirt is hell in granular form.
