Hello i'm thinking about getting a new computer tomorrow (gonna get one) i am my dad's son helping him out (im 12) and he wants to know a good computer to get, we probably want a HP because they are pretty good, no compaqs because it has AOL or w.e and we are looking for a good price around 500-700$$ or so , if anybody knows a good computer for a decent price, reply fast :) thank you.


oh yeah and this will be my computer! (OH YEAH MY FIRST COMPUTER)


oh and remember my posts, 'Help my computer!' or w.e


the virus wiped my system out and i had 2 do a restore. :(

Get one with dual core, 1GB memory, 250GB+ hard drive, and if you are playing games, get one with Windows XP and with either a PCI-E slot so you can upgrade to a better card later.

well first off, HP and Compaq are the same company... so if the compaq is a better price and similar to an HP, you're gettign the exact same machine... but I'd say that yeah, HP/Compaq are a great choice... I work for HP and have used HP's for years (long before I actually worked for them)

I've been seeing some good deals at Wal-mart on HP systems... they're usually identical to the systems at Best Buy and others, but tend to cost a little less.

Don't buy a store bought PC. Have a local PC store build one. They can do it for your price range too! As fast as PC components update these days, it is much easier to upgrade the hard drives/dvd drives/video cards/sound cards as technology improves than to buy a new system every two/three years. If you must buy a PC at a store, but it at Best Buy, and pay extra for the warranty. You'll use it.

HP should be a pretty good First PC for you.
