I'm almost 15, and my parents are letting me apply to places for a summer job. I haven't gotten any calls yet, so I work around the house for an allowance every week. I think you should let your teenager have a part time job, at least in the summer because if they're like me, they want to save up to buy more clothes or music or whatever and they can't rely on just birthday and holiday money!

I'm a teenager and I see nothing wrong with having a job as long as you still focus on school and put that at the top of your priorities list.

Only if there is a financial necessity in the household. Teenagers need to spend their time studying and engaging in activities such as sports or music. Once they are grown, they will stay that way a long time but youth is so fleeting they should be allowed to enjoy the waning days of it.

Yes I believe teens such as myself should have part time jobs because we need to work sooner or later and I believe that it is better to be stressed out now rather than later when I am trying to be professional. ;)

When my son learns to drive (he's 12 now), I expect him to have a part-time job. I feel it will encourage him even more to go on to college.

Yep. But it is hard for them to get one with no work experience. My daughter is 17 and looking for her first job and she gets that excuse a lot from employers.
