I have an old system now, and would like to buy a new one. I don't have a lot of money to spend. The processor I have now is "x86 family 6 model 3 stepping genuine Intel-233". Thats all I know. Plus, Its only a 3 gig hard drive. If I purchased one with a "Intel Celeron D 360", would I notice a large difference in speed? I don't know what size my memory is, but I'm hoping a 512 will be better than what I have. Remember, not a lot of money. Any thoughts?

Yes there will be a certain increase in power, however, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get a Celeron.

Let me tell you how the Celeron came to be .....
Many years ago Intel was growing so fat from sales that its *** developed hemmoroids. Over time Intel became used to them yet after years of scratching they grew layers & layers of scabs .

As Intel continued to scratch the hemmoroids the scabs would peel off & fall to the ground. One day Intel picked a scab up ... looked at it closely & proudly announced :
"Behold ... the Celeron Chip !!!!!"

Just do as much research as you can to get the most for your money.I didn't have alot of money either and ended up getting HP Pavilion D4890Y.Bought on credit with no payment for six months. So you would have six months to pay it off. I dont know anything about Celeron.Several years ago i heard they were crap processors so i have stayed away. They may have improved by now. P.S. My two week old computer has been broken for six days now. They are going to fix it but maybe the extra $$ for extended warranty is a good idea. Probably a good reason why most people get AMD or Intel

Try Carbonfrost Systems. All of their models come with AMD motherboards and based on that. They have many models, some for cost effectiveness and their gaming computers are on the other end with 4 gigs of ram and also heavy duty computers so I am sure you can find something you like.

The good thing about them is their long service and warranty periods so if something goes wrong you wouldn't have to be worried. Also they overclock some of the thier PCs while still keeping them under warranty so that is also an option. I posted thier website address below.

A 233 - Wow!!
Computer Geeks have "off lease" computers really cheap. These are computers that were leased by some big company - and put on the open market. They are used - I have bought several for friends and for school - they were fine.

Check them out at:
