This is funny that you ask this...we were just talking about how my mom use to brush my hair and it would always be in knots. I had hair all the way to below my back. It would have God awful knots and she would hurt me...I would scream...after 4 years of going through this she cut my hair to my ears. Before she did that she would put my hair in pigtails and ponytails so stinking tight that my eyes would be slanted...no seriously...they would! I am half hispanic/ half white and people would think that I was half asian and half hispanic.

My mom was the ponytail queen. every morning I would have some sort of new ponytail creation. 2 of her most common dos for my hair were the really tight make your head hurt and super straight part where the comb digs into your head ponytails and another personal Favorite (not) the side pony. I seriously would wear that almost every other day and it HURT

lol. My mom was great when I was growing up but she always kept my hair up in what she called a top knot. She just gathered all of my hair up and put it on the top of my head. She always thought it was so cute to see me with it even though I would just end up taking it out like 5 minutes later. Other than that she would let my hair run free and curly.

I had waist length, very thick hair and I was not allowed to just wear it down. Braids, pony tails, pig tails- those I could live with. But she insisted that I have curls for special occasions. I would sleep in metal friggin rollers after she dippity do'ed my hair and have ridges in my scalp when she took them out! If I think about it I can still feel the painful tingle in my scalp after those torture device rollers were removed!
We do laugh about it now, but it was a trauma and I do not set my girls hair unless they beg me to put in sponge rollers for curly hair.

My mom kept my hair down most of the time. She didn't really do anything. If it was hot she would put it up in a really tight ponytail that hurt. Fortunatly for me, my stepmom was a hairdresser and was able to do a lot for my hair that I loved.

My Father raised me I had long thick curly hair. It would never fail, It seemed he would pick the hottest stickiest day of the summer to call me from playing and there he would stand on the porch with that little black comb, it was worse than seeing a switch!!
Headbands = "If you keep your hair pulled back and out of you eyes with this headband , you will look just like Marie Osmond"...lol..he lied!!

My mom had my hair cut when I was five so it was right above my ears. So many people mistook me for a boy, it was horrible. Some people even thought I was a boy when I was wearing a dress! And she would never let me grow my hair long, either.

If my mom ever did my hair, it was really tight and that was how I liked it. I was crazy as a child. I hated loose hairs in my face! I hated them so much that I wanted "no bangs" like the other girls. Not realizing that they grew out their bangs, I cut mine off at the scalp (or close enough!) whoops a daisy! (I beleive I was 5!) haha me. :O)

my mom worked early hours at a hospital when i was young, so my dad had to do my hair for school. it was long too. he used to just brush it and slap on a headband. the day i asked him to braid it was the day that he stopped touching it altogether.

Good memories! My Mommy would always put my hair in cute pony tails and braids. I loved it, and everyone complimented me! :)
