Wow... that takes me back.

The park opened in 70 and closed in 01 the park was purchased by Six Flags (what a joke). Sea World sent most of their animals to other parks (mostly other Sea Worlds) since they were theirs, but a few small things stayed at the park. Six Flags did not keep it long since Six Flags is an operations joke and they sold that park to Cedar Fair (also runs Cedar Point) and their small park in Columbus to the Columbus Zoo (the zoo already owned the land they were on, Six Flags was leasing the land).

Anyway, was back in 01. As far as what was done with the whales in the winter. Orca thrive in cold water, ice and snow so it really was not an issue.

I actually was a trainer at the Ohio park and can answer your questions. First in 2001 sold to 6 flags who also bought Geauga lake and connected the 2 parks.

Gaius is correct all of the animals except some birds like flamingos all remained in the park year round. The pools are kept at 55 degrees in shamus stadium, 70 for dolphin cove and Patagonia passage. Send yes we were in the water with them year round

Closed in 2001.

The whales stayed put - they're Arctic animals.
