i heard that dave mustaine hated pantera, i saw a supposed qoute from him and he said that when he and james hetfield got together they made a sound matched by no other, but there are copy cats and he indirectly said pantera (he said "lets just says panther in latin"). he says they tried to copy his sound. is it true that dave mustaine hated him and do u think that dimebag copied his sound.

Kinda funny since Dave once auditioned Dime to join Megadeth at one point. Dime didn't join because Dave wouldn't take Vinnie Paul on as the drummer.

Mustaine!!! Dimebag was good, but WAY OVERRATED. I never understood why everyone put him on a pedestal as the best.

Here's my personal "weigh-out" on the whole thing you ask:

1.Darrell Abbott was probably a better player.
2. Dave Mustaine sang well for the style he wrote in - an original voice for sure, and he got his point across.
3. I believe Megadeth had strong songs...but not past "Countdown To Extinction"
4 I Believe Pantera had strong songs...but not past "Vulgar Display of Power".

just my two cents.....

I have never heard of any beef between Mustaine and Darrell, but it is possible, I suppose, that Pantera was influenced by Metallica's sound. Lots of bands are influenced by other bands. It doesn't mean that they are trying to "steal " their sound. Also, Pantera started out as a hair band, and progressively became harder. This may have been influenced by Metallica.

Dave Mustane did not hate Dime, he respected him but they were not friends, just acquaintances.
No Dime copied nobody, he didn't need to.

Dimebag did not copy his sound I think Mustaine was just full of crap! His life just didn't turn out right so he has to complain about others. Metallica did right to kick him out...

They are both excellent guitarists, though I think Dave can be a jerk some of the time.

i agree with the second one. i do like megadeth but i think dave is just trying to make himself look good or something. but i do agree with the second answer. the third one i agree with too because bands are influnced by other bands
